At Pilgrim Mat Services, in addition to the safety benefits of floors mats, another great benefit of our mat rental program is the laundry service. However, in-between mat pickups, we recommend you sweep or vacuum your mats to help keep them clean and performing at their best. This will also help eliminate the buildup of debris on your mats. Here are a few tips to help you achieve clean mats in-between laundry pick-ups:
1) Entryway Mats – The entryway mats on both sides of the entry doors bear the brunt of the build up of dirt and other debris because of foot traffic. The debris tracked in can also become trapped in the mat fibers. Depending on the level of traffic in your business, you may need to sweep or vacuum the mats every day. Keep these mats clean and free of debris for safety purposes, but also aesthetics.
2) Stains – Spills happen. Be aware that spills left unattended can put you at risk, but also permanently stain your mats. Use a clean, dry cloth to absorb as much of the liquid as possible and then rinse the area with clean water. If this doesn’t take care of the stain, a chemical cleaner may be necessary to remove the stain. Give us a call at (800) 939-2523 for chemical cleaner recommendations.
3) Storage – If you need to carry and store your mats, you should roll the mat with the pil facing outwards. It is important not to store the mat upright while rolled–this can cause the edges to roll up, which can become a tripping hazard. When you store a mat, roll it up and lay it flat somewhere safe. Take care not to store items on top of your rolled mats.
